Challenge Quilt-On to Quilting and A Group Challenge

Creativity is essentially a lonely art. An even lonelier struggle. To some a blessing. To others a curse. It is in reality, the ability to reach inside yourself and drag forth from your soul an idea.
-Lou Dorfsman

Okay, everyone seems to be voting for no border, so I will begin quilting it today. I have also pulled out my box of blocks that I have created over the years and have not used. I'll begin playing with them. They are me! Unlike this present challenge which wasn't even made by me. Some asked if this made it easier for me. I don't think so. I actually feel it was the opposite--more difficult. I don't create things with murky colors. I am happy with it. Thanks everyone for your input. I have decided to spend the month of January exploring more from Rayna's book.

I am also considering offering a challenge. I have some 1950's fabric that I purchased to support a nonprofit quilt organization. I have never known what to do with this fabric and this could be a fun way to use it. If I get enough interest, I will offer it. Interested?

  1. Hello- I really like how your quilt turned out! Now that old UFO can be out for everyone to see!
I think that vintage print would be great for a sort of pattern where each square is cut into wedges, alternated with a plain fabric, and then sewn back into blocks.
Look forward to seeing what you reate next!

  2. OMG - what a hoot! -- vintage kitchen curtain material:-) How well I remember those days. I have a similar piece or two in red and white that i bought at a garage sale and haven't used, either. What was I thinking??
This will not be easy to work with, so it is a real challenge. Count me in!

  3. Karen...Ohh, 50's fabric! Whoa, I would love, love simply love to participate in a challenge with something from my growing up years....it was in the early 50's that I would go to Woolworth's and J.J. Newberry's to buy fabric...first to make doll clothes then to make summer shorts and then blouses for myself. Memory kick-in time for me! Count me in if you go ahead with the challenge.

  4. Love that pre-printed patchwork (cheater cloth). I'd be interested in the challenge but I've got wall to wall deadlines until June 1st.
So I'd be game after that.
