Indigo Quilt
I can still remember when I first read the word "indigo." I was in third grade and trying to decide between a career as an artist or the person who got to think up the names for the different color's of paint. Of course, I decided I could do both. I just couldn't decide which one I wanted to do during the day. I've collected indigo fabrics for more than 20 years. Again, I pulled pieces out of my scrap bin and started there. This is what I accomplished last night. I'm thinking it's done and I'll start quilting today, but who knows what will happen once I get back into the studio. I do know it's time to play with all the indigo fabrics I have collected. I have been thinking about making an indigo quilt for more than a year. Feels good to be finally doing it!

One of my favorite colors in apparrel! I enjoy the combinations of indigo; I'm very happy you're creating.

Karen, I love the indigo work you are doing! Like you I have been collecting pieces of vintage indigo fabrics to make a quilt for myself. One day I will clear the schedule!
ReplyDeleteMartha, You are the kindest person I know.
ReplyDeleteBonnie, Coming from you this is huge.
Love ya both!
Karen...this indigo piece with the angled pieces feels like a visit to the world of outer space... and it sings to me! I love what you accomplished with your first visit to your indigo collection.

Kristin, Thanks! I'm happy too! Still trying to decided if it should be larger. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteKeep it on the design wall and audition some more fabrics to see if you want to make it larger. It is beautiful and deliciously asymmetrical. The off-center center of something bigger? Or not? It will tell you what it wants to be.
ReplyDeleteRayna, This is exactly what I did today! Thanks!
