Challenge Quilt Next Steps

First, I want to thank Rayna Gillman for all her kind words and for posting my adventure on her blog. Next, I want to thank everyone else who has sent me words of encouragement and openly shared your opinions. I'm blown away! This is such a great way to start the New Year. Please consider joining in on the fun. I promise you won't be disappointed.

I am amazed at how different it looked once I squared it up. I agree with Rayna that a binding would take away from the design. I had never planned on putting a binding on it. However, I am considering a border. So what do you think?

  1. I posted a long comment last night but it never showed up. ARGH. This quilt is terrific now - lots of movement and a very contemporary look. Because it is so contemporary, I would love to see it simply faced; no binding. Amazing transformation. I think the lights in the gray offer a good contrast, along with the few very dark spots in the rest of the piece.

You've inspired me to tackle a butt-ugly quilt that is sitting around here. Now, if I only had time...

  2. No border!! My humble opinion. It contains the energy you have created. Without the border, it feels as if there are no limits to the energy!

  3. Me too! No border, I would put on a facing only. It's a great quilt.

  4. I agree -- no border, and no binding! It's great the way it is and I would never have guessed that it came from your original piece. I'm trying not to buy more quilt books, but I think I might have to get Rayna's.

  5. I love it either way,, depends on how you want it to look, contemporary, and arty without the border.

I have Rayna's book and want to start one soon,,,,after the next project is due.... and the next... soon!

  6. Need I say "no border"? That would go against the whole contemporary aesthetic of the piece, IM not-so H O - LOL.
