My House
I am updating my Power Point Presentation so I thought I would share the new photo of my home. I share a photo of my house because painting the shutters on my house periwinkle was a turning point for me. Although I did not know it at the time. When we moved into our house, the shutters were a medium brown color. I begged my husband for three years to allow me to paint them but it seemed to strike terror in his heart every time I mentioned it. I love painting things and the joke in my extended family is that if you stand still long enough, you might just get painted. I have an ornament from my sister Becky that has a woman with a paint brush in her hand and hair and a can of paint. Of course, she also has paint all over her. That's me! Anyway, one day I was at my local Ace Hardware store where I discovered a gallon of paint that was exactly the color I imagined my shutters to be and it was only $5.00. I felt the universe was telling me to go for it. It just also happened when my husband was going out of town on a business trip. I can tell you that before his ride even made it to the end of the street, I was out painting. I remember when I was standing on the roof painting the shutters on the second floor and turned around to see all the guys in the neighborhood standing on the sidewalk watching me. The good news is my husband loved the change as does everyone in my neighborhood. My ugly shutters are gone and my house now reflects me! The woman who lives here is no longer worried about what other people think. So what have you changed in your life that when you look back was a bigger change than what you originally thought?

Amazing what a little paint will do to give more "curb appeal" to a house.
ReplyDeleteI am a happy girl today -- I had the trees out front trimmed. Things look so much better and I don't have to worry about limbs falling on the house or limbs out into the street.
Hi Karen,
ReplyDeleteI love the color of your house and shutters, what an inspiration. Your yard looks very pretty too. Mine is a light yellow with green shutters and I have been wanting to change the shutter color to periwinkle. Do you remember the names of the colors you used?
